Additional Tips

Once you have your garden set up, maintaining it is very much the same as traditional gardening methods.

Most plants require at least six hours of sunlight per day and need daily watering. If this is your first attempt at vertical gardening you should probably keep it to one or two setups which can easily be increased with your skill level.

If sunlight is not abundant in your location try to use plants that do well in shade such as lettuce and spinach; both of which can thrive in shady or partial shade conditions.

If you are more interested in growing fruits and sun-loving vegetables but you lack a good location with ample sunlight, you can use artificial lighting.

Try to keep your vertical garden 100% organic. Although it may be tempting to use artificial fertilizers these chemicals are akin to buying produce at the store and spraying it with chemicals at home before consuming it.

Your vertical garden is a closed loop system – meaning that everything you put into the soil ultimately goes into your food and your body.
